Beyond the bottom line. Our approach to Corporate Social Responsibility.
For the past twenty years, Biskit Ltd has dedicated time, money, and volunteer efforts to support a diverse array of organisations.
Our contributions have benefited: The Chartered Institute of Marketing, Yorkshire Cancer Research, Durham University, University of Leeds, Friends of Leeds Minster, Craven College, Sheffield Futures, The Great Yorkshire Show, Leeds Chamber, Young Enterprise, Leeds Ahead, Memusi Foundation and Eden Projects among others.
Whether we’ve been mentoring new companies, donating laptops to student competitions, or acting as Trustees, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with so many inspiring people and organisations.
Through our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, we’ve made a lasting impact on our community. Below are some highlight projects that showcase Biskit’s commitment to making a difference.
Engaging on Corporate Social Responsibility projects has brought us new insights, personal fulfilment, tested our skills, beliefs and helped us all grow exponentially.
St George's Crypt
The team at Biskit initially knew little about homelessness, its causes, or solutions.
Despite seeing people on the streets in Leeds, York, and across the UK, the issue felt distant. Inspired by the book “Entertaining Angels” about St George’s Crypt, Biskit MD Edward Ryder reached out to the Crypt to offer a book update.
Collaborating with students from Leeds Arts University, we embarked on creating a new edition, called Entertaining More Angels. that shared the stories of the Crypt’s residents and staff.
Through new paintings, interviews, and photography, we conveyed the journey into homelessness and the path to rebuilding lives.
The process was deeply moving, with many of us in tears as we worked on the book.
The book launch at Leeds Civic Hall was attended by over 100 guests and has reportedly raised approximately £40,000.
This project not only highlighted the challenges of homelessness but also showcased the resilience and hope of those on the journey when they found St George’s Crypt.

Yorkshire Talking Heads
Success holds different meanings for individuals, companies, families, villages, towns, cities, countries, and the world.
Recognising this diversity, Biskit, in collaboration with local businessman Keith Madeley, created Yorkshire Talking Heads to explore various perspectives on success. Over two years, we invited numerous speakers to share their insights with attendees from the greater Leeds area, including small business owners, corporate employees, and students from Leeds University and beyond.
Our aim was to foster an inclusive atmosphere where everyone felt comfortable sharing their thoughts and ideas.
Speakers generously gave their time for free and dined alongside participants, promoting a sense of equality and openness. Each evening, we heard diverse viewpoints on success and the unique journeys toward it.
Speakers came from various backgrounds, including Yorkshire Cancer Research, the Commonwealth Games, Leeds City Council, Science City York, the Diocese of Ripon and York, and even the individual who conducted the Savile enquiry for Leeds Hospital Trust.
These sessions encouraged attendees to consider success beyond just financial achievements and material possessions.
At Biskit, we believe our sessions made a meaningful impact, broadening our audience’s understanding of success to encompass personal fulfilment, community contributions, and lasting positive change.
A View From The Hill - Conferences
Biskit, through A View From The Hill CIC, established two impactful conferences aimed at fostering connections and collaboration between charities and businesses.
Emphasising the sharing of ideas and resources, these conferences were designed to nurture a collaborative environment.
Hosted in Leeds and York, the two-day conferences attracted widespread participation and support from prominent organisations including ASDA, Leeds Beckett University, Hallmark Cards, Webmart, Prashad, and Northern Ballet Theatre, among others.
Each conference day was meticulously structured to offer a blend of workshop sessions, networking opportunities, and keynote speaker presentations.
The workshops covered essential topics such as innovation, branding, strategy, and marketing, providing attendees with valuable insights and practical knowledge. The keynote sessions featured industry leaders who shared their expertise and inspired attendees with forward-thinking strategies and success stories.
With over 50 charities attending each event, the conferences proved to be a significant platform for nonprofits to connect, collaborate, and grow.
The diverse participation underscored the conferences’ role in bridging the gap between the nonprofit and corporate sectors, fostering a spirit of mutual support and resource sharing.

A View From The Hill CIC
Biskit established A View From The Hill CIC as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy, aiming to foster collaboration between charities and businesses.
This initiative was designed to bridge the gap between the nonprofit and corporate sectors, enabling them to share resources, advice, and innovative ideas.
Biskit organised a series of networking events across multiple cities, including York, Bradford, Sheffield, Scarborough, Huddersfield, Hull and London. These events created platforms for charities to meet with business owners and companies.
Biskit self-funded this project, demonstrating our commitment to social responsibility. Our dedicated team facilitated these meeting sessions, ensuring smooth and productive interactions. The outcomes of these events were impressive and far-reaching.
Charities benefited from new connections and shared resources, while businesses provided valuable support services, trustees, and even donated old equipment. Additionally, access to shared training sessions was offered, further enhancing the collaborative environment.
Through A View From The Hill CIC, Biskit successfully fostered a culture of mutual support and innovation. The positive results and feedback from both charities and businesses underscore the importance and effectiveness of such initiatives.
Biskit remains committed to leveraging our resources and expertise to drive meaningful social impact.
