Leadership literature is filled with numerous theories and buzzwords, yet the debate continues: are leaders born or made? UK research indicates that up to 82% of managers in the UK are ‘accidental’, thrust into leadership roles without formal training.

In today’s complex business environment, this lack of preparation is a recipe for failure, diminishing the potential for long-term success.

Traditional management and leadership courses often cover leadership styles, strategic planning, objective setting, and tools like the balanced scorecard.

However, they frequently overlook the importance of developing a positive mindset and understanding the cognitive processes that underpin effective leadership.

This gap is why Biskit created and delivered the “Transform Your Thinking” program for The West Yorkshire Combined Authority in Leeds. Although suitable for companies of any size, this program specifically targeted women business leaders of companies less than three years old.

Using a blend of webinars, face-to-face workshops, and 1:1 coaching sessions, we guided 10 business leaders through an intensive program.

We covered key aspects of leadership, including Positive Mindset Development, Future Visualisation, Self-Awareness, Personal & Business Resilience, and an in-depth analysis of how upbringing and current influences shape our thinking.

With participants from various industry sectors, we also facilitated peer networking, enabling leaders to build personal support networks that extend beyond the program. Our approach ensured each leader maximised their potential, which in turn enhanced their business performance.

The final exit survey from our program highlighted significant improvements in participants’ confidence in business growth and a renewed desire to invest in their personal and professional development.
