You might have the best pair of trainers.
You might have the best pair of lycra shorts (hopefully not).
You might even have a super fancy watch to track heart rate, distance and your position.
But if you lack the confidence, motivation, training and knowledge… that run isn’t going to be amazing. Whilst it might be ok, it certainly won’t represent the best you can offer.
In business, we can often focus on the same things. We might have a great CRM, team benefits package, comfy office, strategy sharing sessions, but there’s still something lacking. The magic that leaders are hoping for… just doesn’t happen.
That’s where Biskit comes in, albeit not the edible kind (although we usually do bring biscuits to our meetings), in our journey to help companies become even more successful.
Of course we understand strategy: how it works, how it fails, and how to get the most out of the process so every client benefits.
Of course we understand marketing and sales. We’ve worked in both areas, and understand at coal face level how both work, how tensions arise and disconnects happen. We understand innately how to get both teams working together, so you don’t even see the join.
We understand systems. How they link together to deliver an exceptional customer journey, linking all aspects of production and service together, to build something that gets customers coming back, and pulls suppliers closer, driving growth without disproportionate costs.
Above all though, we’re good at getting individuals and teams to work together, so they can hone their own strategy and plans together, so they can repeat this time and time again.
We don’t have a set, ‘out of the box’ plan for each and every customer. A bit like the lycra shorts, it sends us a bit cold. Whilst the problems and opportunities we encounter with clients can be generic, whatever the industry, the dynamics within each business are always different.
Strong leader. Two leaders. New business. Established Business. High growth expectations. Confidence issues… the list goes on. All completely normal, but something we need to address and adapt to, as part of every client project.
Although we’re always moving forward with client projects. We’re always ready to take a step back, two steps to the side, and make an occasional leap, so the client (and their teams) get the results that they need.
Whilst working on company strategy, we might support the directors with coaching and confidence building. We might sit in and observe how the team works one day. We might take team members to visit an event, or another client. We might set them a small project, giving them a budget and autonomy to complete something of their own. We’ve got a long list of tools to choose from, to solve problems before and after they arise.
That’s what makes our work so much fun, rewarding, and ultimately successful.
On the face of it, just getting a small team of people to enter a trail race is nothing much. After all, companies ‘do’ sponsored running events or walks all the time don’t they?
But, we’re still really pleased at how 6 team members at Performance Lighting decided to sign up for their first ever trail race at Burnsall in the Yorkshire Dales in April 2025. If you’re a road runner, or you’ve never run before, a 10K alone can seem daunting. Will I be too tired to complete it? Will I fall over? Will I come last? Will I get ill? The list of worries goes on.
When you introduce the aspect of ‘trail’ running you often get more worries. ‘Sounds slippy!’ Our imaginations run away with us sometimes, and we imagine towering cliffs, severe drops and being out of breath.
Accepting a challenge like this, and saying ‘no’ to your fears sets us up for so much more, both personally and professionally. What’s more, saying ‘yes’ as a group of sales, marketing, manufacturing and warehouse… says yes to ‘team,’ making further improvements at work, coming to work with a smile on your face… and as importantly… leaving with one.
What’s more, it makes our job so much easier. We don’t have to spend £’ss of client money on specialist training courses or outward bound events (they have a place of course, and we love organising these too). When we’re ready to throw the next part of the client strategy at this team, we know it’s going to be caught by expert hands, that are ready, willing and capable to take it forward… make it their own… and turn it into a success.
