30th Anniversary of Common Purpose

A lovely Wednesday evening, celebrating 30 years of Common Purpose at the Northern Monk in Leeds.

As ever, a thoughtful set of cafe conversations around the subject of ‘What is leadership,’ with lots of differing views.

Thanks to Bill Jones from Leeds City College, Alison Lowe from Touchstone, Sandy Needham from West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and Kevin O’Connor from RSM amongst others for making it a great evening.

Although my Common Purpose course was a few years ago now, the impact still resonates with me today.

Just some of the words generated around Leadership last night were….

-Values are the engine of the organisation.

-It’s not all about me.

-Thinking beyond the Business.

-The ability to navigate power structures without compromise.

-Leadership is a process that involves everyone.

-Marshalling together and getting people to collaborate.

-Leadership is selling a vision.
